A ttorney Thomas Ivory Mr. Ivory has been a trial lawyer for eighteen years practicing in state and federal courts in Philadelphia, as well as surrounding counties including Montgomery, Bucks and Delaware counties. Mr. Ivory practices in the fields of Criminal Law, DUI, Traffic, Vehicle Offenses and Criminal Appeals. With a striking level of success, Mr. Ivory is one of the leading DUI lawyers in the Philadelphia region. Mr. Ivory is a member of the National, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers and currently serves as a board member of the Criminal Justice Section of the Philadelphia Bar association. He is a member of the Brehon Law Society for Lawyers of Irish Descent. He also is a legal advisor to the Irish Immigration Center of Philadelphia on all matters including criminal law and family law.

Mr. Ivory works closely with noted scientific experts in DUI investigation and defense. During the last year he has achieved acquittals and dismissals in numerous DUI cases for our clients including several DUI cases in which our clients faced mandatory sentences of one year in prison or more. He has won multiple defenses including incorrect identification by the police of the actual operator of the vehicle, discovery violations by the prosecution leading to dismissal, motions to suppress physical evidence due to improper or illegal arrest and double jeopardy among other defense strategies. He has a level of expertise not often seen and is also adept at getting our clients’ licenses restored. Additionally, Mr. Ivory specializes in license suspension representation with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

BACKGROUND

Thomas Ivory is a native of Ireland who came to the United States at age 22. Tom is not only a talented trial lawyer, he is a dedicated and passionate advocate for his clients. In addition to his DUI and traffic court work, Mr. Ivory has handled hundreds of cases ranging from murder charges, robbery, burglary, sexual assault, drug offenses, white-collar charges, Food and Drug Administration charges and internet offenses in Federal and State court in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. He began his career at the Defender Association of Philadelphia in 1996. While there, Tom was a member of the major trials unit where he represented clients charged with the most serious offenses in trials before juries. As a public defender Mr. Ivory developed a reputation as a dedicated advocate among judges, his peers, his clients and his opponents. He has carried those traits with him to his work at GPEFF.

Mr. Ivory has not forgotten his roots and remains active in the Irish community in the Philadelphia region. As well as being an active member of the Brehon Law Society, he is a founder member and active participant in the Irish Network (Philadelphia Branch) -- an organization of ex-patriate Irish business people and professionals. He is also actively involved as an advisor and supporter of the Irish Immigration Center, an Irish government-funded support group for Irish Immigrants in the Philadelphia area while also being active in the Irish Chamber of Commerce.

Tom graduated cum laude with Honors from the University of Arizona in 1993. He continued at the University of Arizona for law school where he graduated in 1996.
